Olympic VenuesThe London Olympics 2012 will see a unique combination of historic, world famous and iconic sporting arenas with brand new, state of the art, custom built stadiums not seen at an Olympics before. With Britain being the birth place of the modern development of many of the Olympic sports, world class, international stadiums are already in place to play host in their respective fields. From the lush green courts of the All England Club at Wimbledon, to the centuries old traditions of Lords Cricket Ground and the national icon of Wembley Stadium, London boasts an unrivalled sporting stage already in place.

London 2012 also takes advantage of the sporting excellence of the rest of Great Britain, with international stadiums such as Manchester United’s Old Trafford and the Millennium Stadium in Wales combining with world class facilities at Weymouth Port and Eton.

The London Olympics will also bring the sporting spectacle to some of its other world famous landmarks, with events taking place at Horse Guards Parade at Buckingham Palace, Earls Court, Regents Park, Hyde Park and the Royal Artillery Barracks.

Finally, to complement and enhance this already impressive array of sporting venues, brand new, state of the art facilities will be built, including the centre piece; The Olympic Stadium, as well as the Aquatics Centre, VeloPark, Basketball and Handball Arenas and  significant upgrades at Eton Dorney, Lee Valley and other venues.

With all this, London will provide a unique sporting environment, bringing spectators and athletes world class venues combined with the famous settings of London.
